Speaking at Dragon Con in the United States over the weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, has said that he will “steer clear” of introducing any other humans to the franchise, preferring that Chris Pratt’s performance as Peter Quill remains the centre of attention when it comes to those from Terra.
For those hoping that Carol Danvers was going to make an appearance in the sequel, better luck next time. Gunn has also stated that while he has decided to not include any more earthlings, he does plan to expand the currently male-dominated franchise; Collider are reporting that Gunn stated that there are “plenty of other [alien] women” in the comic books that he planned to introduce “as soon as he could.”
Gunn also spoke about the original idea for Stan Lee’s Guardians cameo which was ditched by Disney for not being family-friendly. Lee was originally slated to be seen in captivity as part of the Collectors library and to give the finger to the ever-inqusitive Groot.
Currently, Guardians of the Galaxy has raked in a worldwide total of US$554,304,119 and is still the #1 film in US theatres. The film has grossed $17,790,681 in Australian cinemas.
