Following on from yesterdays announcement of British thespian, Benedict Cumberbatch, lending his voice to Shere Khan; Warner Bros. have announced the full cast listing of Andy Serkis’ feature film Jungle Book: Origins.
Serkis’ version of the Rudyard Kipling story reportedly
will be staying close to the original text, focusing on the orphan boy Mowgli, who will be played by Rohan Chand (Bad Words). A mix of Mowgli will encounter Bagheera the panther, played by Christian Bale, and Kaa the snake played by Cate Blanchett.
Andy Serkis himself will be playing the role of Baloo, the bear. Tom Hollander, Peter Mullan, Naomie Harris and Eddie Marsan will also be lending their voice to the film, portraying Tabaqui the jackal, Akela the leader of the wolf pack, Nisha and her mate Vihaan, respectively.
Serkis’ interpretation will be a mixture of CGI and live-action, much like the Disney adaptation being helmed by Jon Favreau which will be released in 2015.
Jungle Book: Origins is expected to be released in late 2016.
