Tom Hiddleston to play Hank Williams

Fan-girls assemble, the reigning god of Tumblr is lined up to star in I Saw The Light; a biopic of American country music icon Hank Williams, which will revolve around his rise to fame and sudden death at the tender age of 29.

Not only is Tom Hiddleston cast as Williams, but he will also do all of his own singing. The production has managed to secure the rights to Williams’ music catalogue, so we’re really looking forward to hearing Tom Hiddleston nail that Alabama accent and give us a rendition of Hey Good Lookin’.

Hiddleston recently wrapped on Guillermo del Toro horror flick Crimson Peak and will soon start work on Ben Wheatley‘s High Rise (based on the novel by JG Ballard).

I Saw The Light is directed by Marc Abraham of Strike Entertainment, who currently only has one directorial credit to his name (Flash of Genius, 2008) despite his long list of producer credits (Robocop, In Time, Dawn of the Dead and more). The film will be produced by Brett Ratner, exec produced by James Packer (RatPac Entertainment) and the Bron Studios.

I Saw The Light is due to start filming in Louisiana in October.
