They’re back and rebooted- Michael Bay style.
The new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles kinda feels like Batman-meets-Hulk-meets-Transformers with William Fichtner‘s character The Shredder announcing that “crime violence and fear have run rampant… our great city is being destroyed, people want justice restored to this world people want heroes Miss O’Neil… but heroes are not born, they’re created”, setting the scene for the typical ‘city run by criminals that needs saving by supernatural heroes’ plot line interweaved with Bay’s BANG, BOOM, SEXY CHICK styling (though he is Producing, Directing is actually Jonathan Liebesman, the man behind Wrath of the Titans and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, but it still feels very Bay-like).
It’s interesting to see Megan Fox back paired with Michael Bay following her controversial firing from the Transformer series, reports say she had to do some serious apologising to get back in his good books. Fox stars as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson as Rapharl, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Fichtner as The Shredder, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick and Whoopi Goldberg (lol) as Bernadette Thompson.
BUT, not to be negative or anything, it is TMNT, which brings so many nostalgic childhood memories which is always awesome, and Bay seems to have done a good job minimising the potential corniness and maximising the action.
We shall see.
TMNT is set to release in Australia on September 11, 2014.
