Yep, it’s official.
Michael Douglas is joining Ant-Man and he is playing the infamous Hank Pym.
What, you say?! Hank Pym?! But how is this possible?! Let me tell you.
Marvel have yet to release an official synopsis for the film but the announcement of Douglas as Pym and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang points to a comic storyline that first appeared in 1979:
<box>Scott Lang is a former burglar whose knowledge of electronics lands him a job at Stark Industries. When his daughter falls ill, Lang breaks into Pym’s lab to steal the Ant-Man suit to help save her.
Pym discovers the reason for Lang’s theft, he lets Lang keep the suit so long as he uses it to fight evil.
How much of this will foray into Edgar Wright’s film remains to be seen. Incidentally, Hank Pym is the original creator of Ultron, our main villain in The Avengers 2. Could we perhaps see Douglas’s Hank Pym in The Avengers 2? Joss Whedon has already said that they’re creating their own version of Ultron and Hank Pym is in no way involved.
Could he be lying?
We won’t find out until 2015.
